Born and raised in Calais, France.

At 26, a sense of impatience and wanderlust sends me on a 2 ½ year whirlwind from Canada to Mexico and Guatemala via the west coast. In Oct of 1983, I “land” in Crested Butte and 2 years later I settle into a night job at Soupcon, which I keep for 20 years, so I can play hard by day.

While working at Soupcon, I begin learning about wine.

There I meet my future husband, John-Marc and my journey back to my roots begins.

Together we seek out the finest fare to be found on our trips to Oaxaca Mexico, Guatemala, and more ‘civilized’ areas in France and Italy (and New York and Napa too). Everywhere we go (often on bikes) finding the best place to eat becomes the theme of the day. And then, came the wine.

As my palate evolved, I developed more of an interest. Sharing this hobby with my husband doubled the enjoyment and sped-up the learning process (John-Marc has an exceptional palate). Soon, our varied selection and consumption lead me to “studying” wine from the source rather than from books.

In 2004, an intensive Introductory Sommelier course (and certification) made it clear that I would be learning for the rest of my life and I began reading about wine to compliment my sensory education. In the process of doing so, I began sharing my increasing knowledge and pairing food at home became par for the course.

Leaving the restaurant business in the fall of 2006 and working as a wine rep for a couple years, provided more exposure and my taste buds blossomed to a new level.


I enjoy teaching and sharing my passion, and I believe that while one does not have to be an expert to enjoy wine, a little knowledge and exposure can increase the enjoyment many folds.
